Recipient Org: Description | Bipolar UK is dedicated to supporting individuals with the misunderstood, isolating and potentially devastating mental health condition: bipolar. One of the biggest mental health challenges of the 21st Century, bipolar effects 1 in 50 people (1 million+ across the UK). We exist to empower those with bipolar to thrive and live well with the condition. We do this through: - providing effective, sustainable, innovative peer-led services that support & empower - increasing awareness of bipolar in public and professional arenas, removing the stigma, and getting people talking about living a positive life with bipolar Our main activities include: - Regional Peer Support Groups: we are driven to ensure there is a group on the doorstep of every community across the UK. Peer-led by volunteers with lived experience the groups provide a regular and consistent place of support - 1-2-1 Peer Support Line: Providing a listening ear for those seeking advice, support and information about bipolar and best self-management practice. Our call-back and email service is manned by staff and volunteers with lived experience - eCommunity & digital provisions: Offering a moderated (8am-8pm), safe space for members of the community to share experiences and give and gain support 24/7. Support also provided via a Mood Tracker App (helping pre-empt episodes), ChatBot (ability to answer almost 1,000 questions, 24/7) and Facebook Live weekly streams We are currently working hard to ensure all those groups forced online (or worse completely close) due to COVID are able to reopen locally face2face, providing the most effective and efficient service, to anyone living with bipolar. |
