Recipient Org: Description Bricks supports the collaboration of local communities, creative communities and social enterprises to ensure they have a strong voice in the city of Bristol, together instigating and delivering creative community activities and managing building assets for the long term. Our aim is to advance the arts for the public benefit through the establishing and maintaining of an art gallery, the promotion of contemporary art, the education of the public in the understanding and appreciation of contemporary art and the provision of workspace and services to artists. The main activities undertaken by Bricks to further its charitable purposes for the public benefit are the set up and launch of St Annes House as a creative and community hub, the set up of tenant spaces and recruitment of tenants, the start of an arts programme and communities programme, Public Art & Creative Infrastructure Consultancy and continuing negotiations with Bristol City Council to secure St Annes House as a long term asset for local and creative communities. We also coordinate public programmes at St Annes House, with a mixture of projects produced by Bricks via funding, projects facilitated by Bricks in a light touch way, and projects that use St Annes House as a venue for hire. Some key projects include weekly ‘Creativity For Wellbeing’ sessions, led by a local artist, which aims to support learning and enjoyment and facilitate a basic understanding of painting and drawing. Public Art Programmes are also a core part of our work and we have delivered public art programmes at a range of venues across the city such as MOXY St Paul, Trinity Vortex in LockLeaze and Home Sweet Home in Bradley Stoke.
