Recipient Org: Description Canine Partners trains assistance dogs for people with physical disabilities to enable them to enjoy greater independence, better quality of life and, where possible, help them into education and employment. Our assistance dogs are trained to meet the needs of individuals with even the most complex physical disabilities. We currently help adults aged 18 and over (both civilians and former armed forces personnel) with varying complex disabilities, and our dogs carry out many day to day tasks which our applicants find difficult, painful or even impossible. The charity has been operating since 1990 and in this, our 30th year, we are now looking after over 45 clients in the South West. We are also active in the South West operating a puppy training group consisting of volunteers who take care of our young dogs in their first 18 months. At this very difficult time globally, our assistance dogs are providing a vital lifeline to some of our community’s most vulnerable and isolated individuals. Our current priority is to ensure that these clients are able to retain their independence and have the assistance and care they need to stay safely in their home with help at hand.
