Recipient Org: Description Age UK Bristol (AUKB) is a local independent charity working to improve the quality of later life in Bristol, by providing top-quality services and support to all older people, being a leader for other organisations working with older people, campaigning for public spending and policies that benefit older people, and promoting positive attitudes to ageing across the city. AUKB delivers direct services to maximise income and financial security with our Information and Advice service; reduce isolation and loneliness with our Friends Ageing Better cafes and events; improve physical fitness with Tai Chi sessions, working in hospitals with Dance for Dementia and undertaking strategic work to improve active opportunities for the over 50s; and support people to live independently at home for longer with our Day Services and Going Home from Hospital service. We also work in collaboration with other organisations to extend our reach into different communities and maximise sharing our specialisms with each other. For instance, AUKB leads the Support Hub for Older People and is a founding member of the Bristol Ageing Better Alliance. The users of our services are aged 50+ and range from people who may still work, have active lives and caring responsibilities to those who may have advancing dementia and need support to live at home for longer. We include user involvement in the design and delivery of all of our services. These can be offered in different ways. Our day centre supports people with mild-moderate dementia who can give us feedback via simple surveys with one-to-one support. We also survey their families. AUKB FAB cafes are often led by service users or older volunteers who shape the café they want to see. We recently started a music café at the request of service users. Five of our trustees are from our community.
