Recipient Org: Description | Groundwork South has been working across the South of England for nearly 40 years, combining social and environmental regeneration to bring meaningful change to local areas and transform previously neglected neighbourhoods. We deliver high quality interventions with a long-lasting impact and tangible social and economic benefits, serving children, young people and the elderly in some of England’s most deprived, difficult-to-reach communities. We strive to achieve this by creating better places to live, improving people’s prospects and promoting greener, healthier lifestyles. In Lockleaze, where this project will take place, we support disadvantaged children and their families to improve their quality of life, build resilience and improve their prospects. Our work, taking place at our community centre known as ‘The Vench,’ ensures the community can access vital services such as free-to-access play and recreation for children; fresh nutritious food and food education to combat food poverty, malnutrition and obesity; and a variety of wellbeing activities (particularly around recovering from the consequences of the pandemic/surviving through the cost of living crisis). |
