Recipient Org: Description Kinergy has been providing essential, specialist, trauma-informed counselling, and group therapy to support survivors of sexual abuse and sexual violence since 1996. We support survivors age 18+ of all genders and demographics living in Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and Bath and North East Somerset. We provide a high quality holistic, inclusive, and accessible service in a welcoming and secure environment. This service fills a vital gap in the care of our community and an essential role in the availability of local specialist mental health services. Our primary aim is to lessen the trauma and long-term experience of sexual abuse or violence, helping survivors to recover safely, understand their experience and improve their mental health and general wellbeing. At full strength our team of counsellors can provide up to 80 sessions of 1-2-1 counselling per week. Our 1-2-1 counselling provides clients with a safe space to be able to speak about the impact of their experience on them, their lives, and their relationships, with experienced and specialised professionals. Group therapy sessions offer survivors a space to share their experiences, learn from one another, and build a supportive network. The group therapies we will be offering this year are Somatic Body Mapping, Eco Therapy and a Wellbeing Group which will support those on our waiting list. Our services are designed and developed with the assistance of those with lived experience both in our staff (currently 60% have lived experience) and through our past client advisory panel, as well as working reactively to the feedback we receive from ongoing client assessments. Year on year, our clients have reported a positive impact on their day-to-day functioning, mental health, relationships, self-esteem and confidence as well as developing coping skills as a result of their counselling sessions.
