Recipient Org: Description Brandon trust offer support to young people and adults with learning disabilities. Pizey Avenue provides respite support to young people aged 14 - 26. We work with North Somerset and Bristol to offer young people an opportunity to spend time away from home and therefore gives families respite. We support the pathway to adult hood, which means that we are able to give young people opportunities to develop life skills needed when transitioning from living at home with parents to working towards moving in to their own homes. We are currently supporting 16 different young people to attend respite with more young people on our waiting list ready to attend. The young people that attend have a variety of differing needs. An example of different diagnose are: Learning disability, Autism, Epilepsy, Cerebral palsy, pica, Mucolipidosis type 3 Ketotic hypoglycaemia, infantile onset ascending hereditary spastic paralysis. All of the young people have different communication needs, mobility needs, Eating and drinking needs. We have supported 2 young people recently to transition in to their own homes with great success. We provide different activities tailored to the young peoples needs and wishes. Outcomes are also tailored to the young peoples needs some examples of what we are working towards with young people are: Learn to prepare their own meal or have involvement with meal preparation, More independence around personal care, to be able to make their own bed, to sit at the table and eat a meal. Learning around money management and budgeting.
