Recipient Org: Description Black South West Network (BSWN) is a Black-led racial justice organisation based in Bristol. BSWN work has evolved over the last 15 years to spark positive change for existing & future community needs impacted by inequitable systems. BSWN’s collaborative process between Black and Minoritised communities supports those disproportionately impacted by inequitable systems and works with individuals, groups, and strategic partners who have decision-making power to shift systems towards justice. Our working model is designed to challenge, disrupt, influence and engender accountability in the ecosystem. Our ultimate outcome is Racial Justice, by eliminating racial structural inequalities through the rebalancing of power dynamics and the equitable redistribution of resources. BSWN channels considerable effort towards its overarching goal into impact delivery via its community asset – The Coach House, i.e. a Black Enterprise and Culture Hub where BSWN convenes members of the community, experts, policymakers to design and implement equitable solutions. Our solutions are delivered via our 5 key working strands: 1. Enterprise & Innovation A targeted and tailored type of support to develop Black and Minoritised-owned businesses and democratise access to innovation and technology. 2. Sector Development Types of support that provides customised development for voluntary and community organisations tackling racial injustice and improves overall capacity and skills to maximise tangible positive impact with Black and Minoritised communities. 3. The Coach House A physical safe space for Black and Minoritised communities to experience collective ownership and equitable co-production of solutions to racial injustice. 4. Research & Policy An actively counteracting approach to structural and systemic power dynamics in decision-making and knowledge-production, where Black and Minoritised communities are enabled to take ownership of their own data and knowledge and use it for advocacy purposes. 5. Cultural Heritage Cultural heritage approaches devoid of historical power dynamics which have shaped the lives of racialised people.
