Recipient Org: Description We have previously received a grant from Quartet. The Trust is a registered charity and its objectives include promoting the use of Nailsea Tithe Barn for the benefit of the local community and meeting social needs. Our main programme of Memories at the Barn supporting local people with dementia and their carers. Our activities include: • A weekly Memory Café which offers tailored activities for individual members who live with dementia and a carers support group. The café has over 100 members who attend on a fortnightly basis. • The Barn Owls Dementia Choir which can have up to 50 members who enjoy singing together. The choir rehearses fortnightly throughout the year and gives many concerts in the community • Artful Minds where up to 36 people with dementia and their carers use a range to arts and crafts to produce wonderful, satisfying creations. • New Directions which is for carers whose relatives have moved into long term care or passed away. There are currently 20 members. • A Peer Support group where up to 10 people living with dementia have facilitated time to talk to each other about the challenges they face and the solutions they have found. In addition to these activities we have large social events, our barge trip, summer garden party and Christmas parties. We also run bowling at Mizzymead Recreation Centre once a month. We provide training for carers, people living with dementia, families and volunteers and provide outreach support to families in crisis; this has been particularly important in the past year. We have over 45 volunteers supporting the project.
