| Recipient Org: Description | We support adult and young carers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire, helping them to feel recognised, valued and supported in their caring role, and empowered to fulfil their own aspirations. Since 1997, we have provided practical, emotional, and financial support to carers of all ages, helping them manage the often overwhelming responsibilities of caring for a loved one. We currently have over 15,000 carers registered with us, 26% of the local caring population. Many face significant challenges, including social isolation, declining mental and physical health, and financial hardship. Our comprehensive, free services are vital in helping carers navigate these difficulties, access the support they need, and improve their financial stability, wellbeing, and quality of life. Last year, our delivery included: • Carer Assessments: We conducted 1,204 Adult Assessments to understand the impact of caring and identify the support needed to continue caring safely and sustainably. • CarersLine: Our confidential telephone and email advice service responded to 3,366 contacts, providing expert guidance on benefits, finances, carers’ rights, and respite options, alongside emotional support. • Counselling: 113 adult carers received six weeks of counselling to address issues such as stress, isolation, depression, and relationship strain related to their caring role. • Hospital and primary health Support: Our Carers Liaison team supported 900 carers in hospital and primary health settings, helping them advocate for their needs from admission to discharge, and in the community. • Befriending: 41 carers aged 55+ received practical and emotional support from trained volunteers over 6 weeks, helping them navigate the challenges of caring and isolation. Alongside direct support, we work strategically across health, social care, education, and business sectors to improve carer identification and support. Through our Carers Voice group, we empower carers to influence local and national decision‑making and shape our own service delivery. |
