Recipient Org: Description RWNS provides friendship, support and practical help to refugees and asylum seekers across five community hubs in North Somerset. At the Hubs we offer ESOL classes, welcome packs, and support to understand UK systems, rights and entitlements. Where people are triaged and found to require ongoing or enhanced support, we provide casework for those who have received leave to remain and are facing homelessness, as well as for individuals and families settling locally who have needs relating to employment, health, wellbeing or children. We regularly see up to 100 people each week, including individuals arriving from Syria, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Ukraine through Government schemes, alongside those navigating the asylum process or recently granted refugee status and beginning to rebuild their lives in our community. Our wider services include outreach into Home Office initial accommodation, a tenancy support service, youth provision for 16–25 year olds, community peace feasts, and the Welcome Homes project, which collects and redistributes furniture and prepares homes for resettled families. Recent wellbeing work includes a monthly drumming circle and aromatherapy workshops, with places open to local residents to strengthen community connection and cohesion. Across all programmes, outcomes include improved emotional wellbeing, increased social connection, sustainable tenancies, and better access to services, helping people feel safer, more confident and more rooted in their new communities.
