Recipient Org: Description We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating. At Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire we believe no one should have to face these problems without good quality, independent advice. That’s why we’re here: to give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward - whoever they are, and whatever their problem. Our local, independent charity offers confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free. No other charity in South Gloucestershire helps so many people with so many different kinds of problems, and that gives us a unique insight into the challenges local people are facing today. With the right evidence, we can show big organisations – from companies right up to the government – how they can make things better for people. We actively encourage those with lived experience to help deliver and shape our services by working with us. All opportunities to work with us as volunteers, trustees or in paid staffing roles are advertised widely through recruitment networks, the local voluntary sector, through our social media channels and on our website. We also send these opportunities out to our mailing list of over 3,000 local people which are mostly people who have used our services in the past. We currently have three people on our staffing team who first started out as volunteers with us, some because they had used our service before and wanted to help others like them. Our CEO, Chantal Watts, started her journey with us as a client needing help because she faced eviction from her Landlord. Shortly after, she began volunteering for her local Citizens Advice before being offered a paid post and working her way up to the top job.
