| Recipient Org: Description | Our work supports disadvantaged families with at least one child under five, recognising the critical importance of the early years in shaping children’s long-term development. In the last year, we received 385 referrals and supported 247 families through weekly home visiting from a trained and supported volunteer and through peer support groupwork, engaging a further 95 families through drop-in provision. Our aim is to build parental confidence, strengthen family relationships, and reduce isolation by connecting families to support within their communities. Our core service provides practical and emotional support through trained parent volunteers, who visit families weekly at home. Volunteers are safely recruited, DBS checked, and matched carefully with families. Support is tailored and goal-focused, with coordinators providing ongoing supervision and linking families to specialist services where needed. In response to families telling us they feel isolated, we have expanded groupwork and community-based provision across Bristol and South Gloucestershire and more recently in North Somerset.. This includes: Best Start programmes for families with children aged 0 - 2 and drop-in groups, including a South Bristol group delivered with Boing Soft play, engaging over 50 families and building strong peer networks. Most recently, we have taken on delivery of the Baby Start drop-in group in Pill, North Somerset, ensuring continuity of support for parents of under twos following the closure of Home-Start North Somerset and maintaining a vital, accessible space for families to connect and access early help. Outcomes achieved this year 85% of families reported improved mental health and wellbeing 95% reported reduced loneliness and isolation, with 86% increasing awareness of local services and community connections. 88% reported improved coping skills, 93% improved strategies for managing children’s behaviour, and 74% reduced family conflict. These outcomes demonstrate meaningful improvements in wellbeing, confidence, and family stability. |
