Independent media development - PRIMED consortium (360G-cabinetoffice-G2-GA-202112638678-21-22)

£2,812,215

The aim of the programme is to strengthen the ability of independent media in developing countries to produce free, independent public interest journalism and provide fora for constructive public debate, both offline and online. Working in Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Sierra Leone, the programme will bring together NGOs, researchers and the private sector to increase the resilience of independent media in developing countries to political and economic pressures which are undermining freedom of expression. The project will connect global, regional and local expertise to develop more sustainable business models for independent media in the digital age. In conjunction, it will strengthen support networks, provide technical assistance for media organisations and take forward policy discussions on global action for media freedom.
